February 2017 is shaping up to be a sweet month with tons of events in Los Angeles County from Cookie Con and Anti-Valentine's Parties to beer festivals and Long Beach Restaurant Week. Los Angeles A Cappella Festival
February 3rd – February 5th
The LAAF is a non-profit music festival produced by The Contemporary A Cappella Society that gathers people from all over the world to celebrate, appreciate and advance vocal music as an art form. Yep, real life Pitch Perfect. Held in Calabasas, the weekend long festival will feature top high school and collegiate groups going head-to-head in a 3-round performance format. LAAF is the perfect family event and an incredible weekend of live, a cappella music.
Annual Belmont Shore Chocolate Festival
Saturday, February 4th
The 13th Annual Belmont Shore Chocolate Festival will bring together 25 different restaurants for one sweet day of fun. There will be chocolate tastings from 1-3PM, and the Hof’s Hut Chocolate Pie Eating Contest from 3-4PM. There will also be a homemade chocolate dessert content from 12-1PM with winners in three different categories: chocolate cakes and pies, chocolate cookies and brownies, and unique chocolate treats.
Otter Bowl III
Sunday, February 5th
The big game is more fun with Otters. Come see the playful sea otters at the Aquarium of the Pacific vie for the title of champion as they play ball in their exhibit. Get up close to more than 11,000 animals, and see the otters in action for only $14.95 entrance fee when you come after 2PM. You can also head over to the Northern Pacific Gallery on the second floor to watch the big game with the otters at 2:15PM.
Annual La Bachata Festival
Thursday, February 9h – Sunday, February 12th
The La Bachata Festival includes nightly themed parties and performances, beginner boot camps so you can learn the moves, dancing till 5AM, and over 80 workshops, dozens of performances. Check out the site for all the different types of passes and tickets available for the event. It will be Valentine’s weekend and for the first time, this year’s festival will include a speed-dating workshop.
Clean Slate: Pre-Valentine’s Party
Three Day Rule is a matchmaking service and they’ve got a Pre-Valentines party to make Singles Awareness Day more bearable. It's a new year, and we've all got a clean slate. Three Day Rule matchmakers will be your personal cupid at the Viceroy Santa Monica hotel for this massive pre-Valentine's bash! Bring your favorite wingman or wingwoman, grab a cocktail, and meet someone new! You can even get in for free if you bring a photo of you and your ex to destroy. Fun and productive.
LA Chinatown Firecracker Run
Saturday, February 11th - Sunday February 12th
Celebrate the Year of the Rooster with a run/walk & bike ride in historic LA Chinatown. Saturday will be the bike ride and Sunday will be the run/walk. The Firecracker Bike Ride will offer cyclists the choice of a 20 mile or a 30+ mile route. Sunday will include a 5K run/walk, 10K run/walk and a short Kiddie Run. The Firecracker is an all-volunteer organized event. All net profit is reinvested in the local community.
Broken Hearts Circus at Angel City Brewery
Saturday, February 11th
Your favorite Downtown LA Brewery will be hosting a festival for the broken hearted! The day of fun will feature music and performances all day from clown comedians to acrobats and dancers. There will also be a roaming magician, stilt walker, a photo booth, food truck, circus snacks and face painting.
Anti-Valentine’s Day Party at the Museum of Broken Relationships
Tuesday, February 14th
This year's Anti-V-Day-bash will offer guests evening access to all of MOBR's exhibits plus a fantastic assortment of entertainment that's sure to make you forget about this whole true love thing. Fun includes anti-love anthems all night long, food trucks, cash bar, “wall o’ break-ups” where you can leave stories of lost love, and raffle prizes from the gift shop. Tickets are $27 and include one free drink per entry.
LA Cookie Con & Sweets Show
Saturday, February 18th – Sunday, February 19h
For the past two years the West Coast’s biggest baking, decorating and pastry convention has sold out, and that’s why 2017’s LA Cookie Con will be held at the LA Convention Center with four times the space. One day general admission is $25 that gets you all access to competitions, samples, vendors, celebrity panels, demos and surprises. And don’t worry, there’s something for absolutely everyone including traditional treats, vegan, gluten-free and more!
Long Beach Comic Expo

Scotsfestival & International Highland Games XXIV

Experience the rich culture and history of Scotland first hand through an array of authentic activities, athletics, dancing, entertainment and cuisine in ode to the Queen Mary’s Scottish legacy. Enjoy professional and amateur competitions in piping, drumming, massed bands, darts, Highland dancing, and Highland athletics. If you’re not interested in the athletics, there’s also whisky tasting sessions, craft beer samplings, the Queen Mary’s coronation, knighting ceremonies and Wee Highland games for the kids.
Dine Out Long Beach Restaurant Week

Simply dine at any participating restaurant and enjoy value-oriented prix-fixe menus for lunch and dinner at some of the city’s best restaurants. Air + Style
Saturday, February 20th – Sunday, February 21st
Shaun White's Air + Style originated 21 years ago in Innsbruck, Austria as a snowboarding competition and has since grown to Beijing and now Los Angeles which will also include a skiing competition. The two day festival features music on two stages along with art, fashion, and technology exhibits, and the world’s best snowboarders going head to head.
Annual LA Art Book Fair

Free and open to the public, Printed Matter's LA Art Book Fair is a unique event for artists' books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines presented by over 300 international presses, booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers. Thursday, opening night, will include special musical performances with tickets available for $10.
Long Beach Mardi Gras Parade & Festival

Festival: 12-5PM Parade: 3PM
Carnevale returns with fun for all ages, music performances, shows, Venetian mystery masquerade photography and of course dress up, all with no charge. Produced by Shoreline Village, Long Beach Mardi Gras is a signature annual event that transforms the Village and brings out over 15,000 participants. Dancers, stilt walkers, mimes, clowns, musicians – all are welcome!
Craft Beer Festival- San Pedro

The event is a collaborative effort of HGS and many breweries combining to raise money for an organization project in Long Beach California to support the local community. The event will showcase multiple local and regional breweries as well as local bands and DJ & local chefs competing for your catering business. Be sure to grab a business card from your favorite food vendor!
