Halloween time is creeping into Los Angeles County with tons of events this October 2017 from Hollywood Horror Nights and the Queen Mary's Haunted Harbor to horror film festival and themed movies in the park. If you're not a fan of the dark side, no need to worry. There are beer and food festivals for you too.

Hollywood Horror Nights

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights is back with 8 terrifying mazes, a new Jabbawockeez show, the terror tram and scare zones to keep the hairs on the back of your neck raised all night long. The mazes are movie quality and scares are real. Mazes this year include American Horror Story, Saw, Titans of Terror and The Walking Dead.

Street Food Cinema

Street Food Cinema has a month of Halloween and horror themed movies in the park this October. With 12 different locations to provide moviegoers with more chances to catch their favorite flick on the big screen, don’t forget to come early and catch top local bands. Each night will be a different band, movie, and round up of delicious food trucks.

Alpine Village Oktoberfest

Alpine Village is the home of the oldest Oktoberfest celebration in Southern California, located in Torrance. Traditional Bavarian fun is supplied by Oom Pah Pah party bands, your belly is sated by traditional German fare, and your thirst is quenched by delicious German beers brewed by Warsteiner. General admission is $10 and special dinner and front of the line tickets are $60.

Queen Mary Dark Harbor

San Gabriel Dumpling & Beer Fest

The 3rd annual “local twist on Oktoberfest” in San Gabriel features food and beer booths, vendors, DJs, live band, best dumpling contest and dumpling eating contest! The San Gabriel Dumpling and Beer Fest is the perfect fusion of fall fun and local eats held in the Mission District. Your ticket includes unlimited beer samples and access to all the dumplings your heart desires.

Taste America: Los Angels

The James Beard Foundation have put together this event, which pairs vaunted LA chefs Michael Cimarusti, Neal Fraser, and Shannon Swindle with award-winner Barbara Lynch. This is the best of the best in the world of food and a chance to have the greatest meal ever. Tickets start at $300.

Screamfest Horror Film Festival

Screamfest Horror Film Festival is the largest and longest running horror film festival in the United States. Paranormal Activity was discovered and premiered at the festival in 2007. Some of the largest horror online publications have called it the "Sundance of Horror". Purchase a movie festival pass for the whole week or purchase individual tickets for your choice of horror flicks.

Desert Daze

Friday, October 13th – Sunday, October 15th

This bizarro camping festival at the Joshua Tree Institute of Mentalphysics (seriously!) has put together a truly insane lineup, with headliners Spiritualized, Iggy Pop, Kurt Vile, and Courtney Barnett supported by dozens of perfect-for-getting-weird-in-the-desert acts like Eagles of Death Metal and Ty Segall. Purchase a single day ticket or a weekend pass if you plan to camp for this weekend music festival.

Off The Hook Seafood Festival

Festival of Disruption

Festival of Disruption is a live music, art, film and immersive creativity festival in Los Angeles at The Ace Hotel with artists like Bon Iver, The Kills and talks from David Lynch, Bill Pullman and more. Proceeds benefit the David Lynch Foundation, whose mission is reducing toxic stress and trauma among at-risk populations, including victims of domestic violence, veterans suffering from PTSD, and underserved urban youth, through the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique.

The festival supports local sustainability, featuring locally owned and operated businesses including over 30 local vendors including restaurants, celebrity chefs, caterers, locally owned brands, and more. Burbank Beer Festival

This massive (free) South LA soul food and music festival is always an epic celebration, but this year promises to be even more of a party. Farmers Market Fall Festival

The fun of the LA County fair comes to the heart of the city. This EDM fest has circus performers, scary mazes, and even some crazy pyrotechnics. This year there will be four different themed stages to experience including Slaughterhouse, Ghouls’ Graveyard, The Chopping Block and Cannibals’ Tea Party.

Dia De Los Muertos Festival

The annual festival of the dead is back again, stuffed full of pan de muerto, performances, music, and thousands of people in the classic sugar skull dia makeup. And where better to celebrate than The Hollywood Forever Cemetery? The festival will include hundreds of Aztec Ritual dancers in full costume, four stages of music and theatrical performances, 100+ altars created by members of the community to their ancestors, costume contest, kids arts area and so much more.

West Hollywood Carnaval

Everyone knows that WeHo can throw a party, and the most bewitching one of the year is West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. It’s the best place to people watch as attendees eagerly to show-off their killer costumes. The street party of 500,000 is a spectacle not to be missed; expect drag queens, muscle boys, lots of glitter and a freaking good time.
