Redlands Bowl’s Summer Music Festival

Now – August
Tuesdays & Fridays @ 8PM

The Summer Music Festival is totally free and a cultural touchstone in the Inland area. Since its inception in 1924, the Bowl has been a special place in Redlands for families, friends, and music lovers of all ages and backgrounds to gather and enjoy superb performances.

Big Bear Renaissance Faire

The Big Bear Ren Faire is a full scale blast from the past featuring old village streets, jousting, merriment and everyone you know dressed up in a corsets and billowing white tops. The village streets lead you past crafts, costumes, food, stages, and games. The Enchanted Shire has six stages of ongoing shows performing every half-hour. There is also an arena for the jousts and the Great Square for pirate battles, maypole dances, and other fun! Each weekend has a special theme so if you plan to come in costume, dress accordingly.

Rhythm of Riverside Summer Concert Series

August 3rd & August 10th

The Rhythm of Riverside Summer Concert Series free event is held every Wednesday throughout July and August at Fairmount Park. The winners will receive cash and prizes valued over $1,000. Playing August 3rd will be La Internacional Sonora Show (Cumbias) and on August 10th will be Red Carpet Riot (top 40).

Dive-in Movies at Wet ’n’ Wild

Friday, August 4th
Movie begins at dusk

Finding Dory will be playing at the Palm Springs Wet’n’Wild as the final Dive-in movie for the 2017 summer season. Movie is free with park admission so play all day and stay for the film. The movie will start after dusk and the park will be open with limited access until 10pm, weather permitting.

Free Kids Movie Series in Cathedral City

Fridays at 9:30AM

The Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission in partnering with the Mary Pickford Theatre to bring a Free Summer Kids Film Series every Friday morning in July and August. The film series will allow free admission in order to see a different kids movie each Friday morning at the Mary Pickford Theatre in Downtown Cathedral City. Here’s the August line up:

August 4th: The Lego Movie
August 11th: Journey to the Center of the Earth
August 18th: The Iron Giant

Tour de Big Bear

Saturday, August 5th
25, 50, 70 & 107 miles

Held at “The Village” at Big Bear Lake, the Tour de Big Bear is Southern California’s most scenic and challenging high altitude ride. Escape the summer heat, and ride specular 25, 50, 70 and 107 mile stages at 7,000 ft.+ and enjoy cycling amenities that other rides can copy! Are you up for the Big challenge?

Shakespeare in the Vines

Thursday, August 10th – Saturday, 26th
Seating open 6/6:30PM; Shows 7/7:30PM<

Pack a picnic dinner and take a seat in the vineyard for Temecula’s annual Shakespeare in the Vines. All performances are staged outdoors, under the stars and amidst the vines, at the beautiful Baily Vineyard & Winery. August’s performance will be Macbeth.

Splash House

Friday, August 11th – Sunday, August 13th

Splash House is a city spanning pool party and music festival in Palm Springs. Enjoy music from your favorite bands all day, without leaving the pool. The party also rages on into the night with the After Hours party at the Air Museum with more amazing musical guests. Check out the site for ticket prices and packages.

Jazz in the Pines

Friday, August 11th – Sunday, August 13th

The Idyllwild Arts Foundation will be hosting the 24th annual Jazz in the Pines Festival featuring over two dozen bands. Single day admission is $85 and two day is $150. Performers and fans of jazz, blues, and R&B have a breathtaking mountain campus to themselves after the departure of the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program's thousands of arts-lovers and before the first semester of the Foundation's residential high school, Idyllwild Arts Academy.

Palm Springs Summer Film Series

Thursday, August 17th

Palm Springs Art Museum frequently presents free films as a part of its community programming. The films include exhibition-specific movies and documentaries, feature films and other screenings that pertain to specific events. This August, the museum will be playing Paris, Texas at the Annenberg Theater and Meyerman Sculpture Garden. Seating is first come, first served.

Free National Park Entrance Day

Friday, August 25th

It is the National Park Service Birthday which means admission is free for all National Parks including Joshua Tree. The fee-free days provide a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite. The fee waiver includes entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees.

Comic Con Palm Springs

Friday, August 25th – Sunday, August 27th

Be a part of the first annual Comic Con Palm Springs this summer with tons of special guests including Stan Lee and Lynda Carter aka the original Wonder woman. Everything you love about Comic Con is coming to the desert for three gloriously geeky days of cosplay, fan films, shorts, trailers and tons more special celeb guests. General admission for all three days is $57 or $67 at the door, plus individual day, and VIP.
