Events in Orange County this August 2017 include the second half of the OC Fair, more free concerts, movies on the beach, lobster festivals, food events and more. Find out what’s going all month long so you can capitalize on the local summer fun!

OC Fair

This is your last chance to visit the fair before it’s gone. Enjoy the carnival rides, games, exhibits, livestock, courtyard wine seminars, live music and entertainment and so much more all month long. Check out the list of performers at the Pacific Amphitheater with everyone from Kenny Loggins and Colbie Caillat, to Dashboard Confessional and The All-American Rejects. There will also be several events at the action sports arena including Monster Truck Destruction Tour, jousting, and extreme rodeo.

Segerstrom Center’s FREE Movie Mondays

Monday, July 31st & August 7th

Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa will be hosting their free summer movie series outdoors this month, Monday nights. Set-up begins at 5:30PM, with the movie starting at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.). Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs or other easily portable seating items, snacks and picnic suppers. There will be food trucks so you can get your grub on with great movies all month long.:

New Swan Shakespeare Festival

Now – Saturday, September 2nd

The New Swan Shakespeare Festival is performed outdoors in an intimate, mini-Elizabethan theater in-the-round, at the UC Irvine campus. This season the New Swan will be putting on several performances of The Tempest and The Taming of the Shrew. Check out the website for event dates and tickets. Ticket prices range from $25 – $64.

Pageant Of The Masters

Now – Thursday, August 31st

The Pageant of the Masters is an imaginative recreation of historic art scenes with live people painted to fit the part. The Festival Art show brings local and international works to be out on display in a social scene. Set in Laguna Beach just down the road from the Sawdust festival, this is a one of a kind show recently voted one of the top five art festivals in the nation by USA Today readers.

La Habra Corn Festival & Parade

Friday, August 4th – Sunday, August 6th

The La Habra Corn Festival hosted by the Lions Club is the ultimate clean-cut family fun festival. The whole weekend is filled with rides and attractions, food, games, crafts, live music, contests and Miss La Habra, the club queen and her court. All-American contests include the apple pie baking contest and the baby contest. The Parade will be held Saturday, August 5th at 9AM, running down West to East down La Habra Blvd between Idaho and Cypress Streets.

Beachfront Cinema

BeachFront Cinema is an outdoor movie experience, taking place across SoCal beaches. It’s coming to Huntington Beach for the summer with one of the largest inflatable, outdoor movie screens in California. Movie nights also feature plush, jumbo beanbags, food vendors, live bands, beach bar, contests, games and gorgeous sunsets. Admission is free for children 3 and under, general admission is $15.

Oc Parks Summer Concert Series

SoCal Hoedown

Held in Downtown Santa Ana at the entrance on 4th and French Street, this all day affair will include a Pin Up pageant, car show, vendors and tons of bands.  The event will feature local and national rockabilly, outlaw country and psychobilly bands, dozens of food trucks, burlesque, 3 stages of music, a full bar with lots of craft beers and so much more! The party will include 4 indoor venues including The Yost Theater, Diego’s Rock-n-Roll Bar & Eats, The Underground DTSA, Festival Hall,  an outdoor stage, and 4 city blocks.

OC Fair 5K

Sunday, August 6th

Race fee includes your race tee shirt, timing chip, commemorative finishers medal and entrance to the OC Fair. Race day registration (if available) and bib pick-up will be available from 6AM to 7:45AM on Sunday, August 6 at the Start/ Finish Line inside the gate at the OC Fair Main Gate, 88 Fair Drive. Award ceremony at the Main Stage happens at 9:15 and the fair opens at 10AM so you can enjoy a full day of fun after the race.

Lobsterfest at Newport Beach

Lobsterfest at Newport Back Bay is all about summer fun and giving back to the community. General admission is $60 and includes one whole Maine lobster and grilled steak plus all the fixings from potatoes, corn on the cob, and rolls to desserts. While feasting you will enjoy live entertainment from a local band plus swimming and use of the playground on the beach for the kids. Walk-up tickets are $80 and sold on first come, first served basis.

Shakespeare by the Sea

Free Shakespeare in the Park. This year the company will be putting on performances of Taming of the Shrew and Macbeth throughout Los Angeles County with a handful of shows in Orange County. Here’s the line-up of OC shows you can catch:

Auto Enthusiast Day

4th annual Auto Enthusiast Day will take place at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The show is free for all spectators, car show participants, and vendors and will include a variety of activities, such as drifting and off-road demonstrations, a vendor midway featuring automotive products and giveaways, food trucks and much more.

Coastal Country Jam

Saturday, August 12th

This beach country concert will go down in the sand at tower 6 at Huntington State Beach. Billy Currington will headline and the day includes BBQ and more food options, beach bars, bean bags, hammocks, line dancing, bull riding and fun. More performers include Walker Hayes, Sunny Sweeney, Kaitlyn Weathers and more. General admission tickets are $75. 

MommyCon Orange County

The San Clemente Fiesta Music Festival

This will be the 64th Anniversary Music Festival in San Clemente. Enjoy live music all day alongside the salsa challenge, contests and games from the tortilla toss to pie eating, arts and crafts vendors, motorcycle show, kids activities, action sports expo, exhibits, face painters, jugglers and more. Admission is free and there’s a wide array of fabulous food available, provided by local non-profits. Remember, the more you eat, the more you benefit local philanthropic programs!

Color Vibe 5K

Get blasted with color while you run the Color Vibe 5K at the Fountain Valley Sports Park. You will be blasted at several different color stations throughout the run. Registration and the classic runner’s kit includes your race shirt, color vibe tattoo, race pip, color pack, sunglasses, and finisher’s metal. The charity partner for the event is OC Burrito Project, working to share quality food with the disenfranchised people of downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena & surrounding areas.

Dana Point Lobster Beach Fest

It’s officially lobster season. Chow down on more surf and turf in Dana Point for their 8th Annual Lobster Beach Fest hosted by the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. Enjoy a themed casino night with appetizers, bar, fresh east coast lobster, smoked tri-tip steak, desserts, live music, DJ, dancing and an amazing Silent Auction. This year’s event will be raising money for Make-A-Wish, Boys & Girls Club and the Marine Support Group.

Pacific Wine & Food Classic

Plum Fest

Come enjoy a fun family day with carnival games, face painting, wiener dog races and tons of great food. Chow down on plum cakes, plum crepes, berliners, BBQ and more while you browse the arts and crafts vendors and take in all the fun. The Dachshund Wiener Dog Races will start at 3PM and are coming soon again for Oktoberfest celebrations.

Anaheim Home & Garden Show

Before Pinterest, there were only Home & Garden shows. Kick it old school IRL at this event, highlighting exciting new products, time and money-saving services, the hottest style in home fashions and fabulous ideas for new-home construction, remodeling and decorating. This show includes hundreds of exhibits that will entertain and inspire, free do-it-yourself seminars, cooking demos and everything for the interior through the exterior of your home.

OC Night Market

The 4th season of the Night Market kicks off with hundreds of food, merchandise, arts, crafts and entertainment options for one of the biggest food festivals of the year. It’s all going down at the end of the month at the OC Fairgrounds.

Paella Wine & Beer Festival

The 1st Annual Paella Wine & Beer Festival will be going on this month. Paella is a dish that comes from Spain with saffron infused rice, bold flavors, means, shellfish and vegetables. The event will be held at the OC Fairgrounds and your ticket includes unlimited paella samples, plus 3 samples of either wine, sangria, beer or spirits. There will be tons of drinks to pair with the dish so you can enjoy!

Huntington Beach Beer Festival

Saturday, August 26th

The Huntington Beach Beer Festival will celebrate craft beer and live music to raise money for The Coastal Conservation Association. The event will showcase multiple local and regional breweries as well as local bands and DJ’s. Held on the sand in Huntington State Beach, general admission is $35 for admission and samplings of over 100 craft beers. VIP admission is $50 and includes early entrance at 1PM.

HB Downtown Art in the Park

Saturday, August 26th

Held at Triangle Park and the Art Center, the festival will offer 75 booths of artists, a children’s art zone, food and live music. This will be the second annual Art in the Park festival celebrating the local talents and vibes of Huntington Beach. The perfect way to round out your summer!

Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo

Yes, there is a rodeo in Orange Count. Proclaimed as the richest 2-day rodeo in the nation, this year’s Rodeo features saddle bronc, bareback, steer wrestling, calf roping, tie down roping and bull riding. You won’t want to miss this year’s excitement! Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for kids, and there is a $10 parking fee.

Annual Fit Expo Anaheim

Your ticket to the two-day Fit Expo includes admission into the exhibition floor filled with cutting edge companies displaying, promoting and selling fitness, health and well-being products and services. CHOC “Walk In The Park”

The fundraising efforts of the CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland make an immediate impact on families going through the most challenging time in their lives. Disney characters will be cheering you on as you complete your 5K walk through the park to make this the most fun event for your kids. There is a minimum donation of $85 and walkers 2 and under walk for free.
