If you love the summer Sawdust festival then you don’t want to miss the winter wonderland transformation this time of year. One of the amazing benefits of living in Laguna Beach is the fact that there are fun festivals all year round! Art media includes jewelry, clothing, fused and blown glass, ceramics, woodwork, forged metals, painting, photography, sculpture, clothing and textiles. This two-day surf and stand-up paddleboarding event is silly in all the right ways. This seasonal event gets everyone decked out in holiday gear in the water and supports Surfers Healing, the original surf camp for children with autism. The charity surf event will feature stand up paddle-boarding as well as surfing at Salt Creek Beach. Prizes will be awarded for everything from Big Air and Fastest SUP Race, to the best costume. Dana Point Turkey Trot

Plymouth Rock ‘n’ Run

North Orange County has its own turkey trot, the Plymouth Rock ‘n’ Run held at Yorba Regional Park on Thanksgiving morning. There will be a 5K run and walk, 10K, Kid’s 1K fun run and a Tot Trot. Discounts will be giving for the biggest, fastest and highest fundraising teams, plus metals for age group metals for each run. The race now includes a doggie division so don’t forget to bring your furry friends along and enter them into the cutest dog and best dog costume contests!

The best tamale, best dessert tamale, best salsa and hottest salsa contests will all be part of this delicious community event. As in past years, dance performances by local studios, tamale and other food vendors, craft and other vendors will be coming out to enhance the fun. Every year on Saturday before Veterans Day, a massive Veterans Day parade takes over Atlantic Boulevard in Long Beach. Come to Houghton Park to watch as a slew of proud veteran families, military units and entrants from all over Southern California wave their American flags in the air alongside the marching band. Burbank Winter Wine Walk

The Burbank Winter Wine Walk kicks off the Holiday season with the town tree lighting, live entertainment, snow fall at the main stage and holiday shopping. The Turkey Trot returns to Downtown Los Angeles on Thanksgiving morning. This event offers a scenic 5k and 10k route on the historic streets of Los Angeles. Participants receive a Turkey Trot trucker hat and finishers medals for everyone. The race starts in front of City Hall and loops up and around Grand Park, past Disney Hall and Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. After a nice downhill, participants will be treated to a historic course along Spring Street, run past by such notable buildings as the Continental Building (LA’s first skyscraper), The Hellman Building, El Dorado Hotel, Crocker Bank and more. The course ends at Grand Park for the finish.

San Diego Run for the Hungry 5K & 10K

The San Diego Run for the Hungry takes place Thanksgiving morning at 7AM. Starting in Downtown San Diego, the route ends outside Horton Plaza. Join a team or create your own and bring non-perishable food items to donate. The San Diego Food Bank will have a booth the morning of the race where you can drop off your donations in their famous red food drive barrels. Don’t forget, dogs are welcome too! It costs $10 for your furry friend and includes a bandana for them to wear and doggy treats along the route.
