Orange Park Acres is an exclusive, unincorporated county island surrounded by the city of Orange. It is comprised mainly of upper-middle class residents from the Orange area. As the name suggests, almost all of the estimated 5,000 residents live in homes set on 1-acre lots, a minimum requirement for this sector of Orange County. It was founded in 1928 as the official equestrian destination of Orange County, which is what the Orange Park Acres prides itself on today, with several equestrian areas and stables throughout the community. Much of that historical heritage has been preserved with the lack of sidewalks and street lights, with an abundance of fenced horse trails. It consists of one shopping center and is bordered by the Santiago Canyon College.
