Thermal is a small, quiet, desert community located in Riverside County’s Coachella Valley, approximately 25 miles southeast of Palm Springs and about 11 miles from Indio. Thermal’s estimated 21,194 residents enjoy a year-round sunny climate that is perfect for growing date and citrus fruit trees. The Brown Date Garden has grown acres of date trees since the 1930s, creating lovely palm green panoramas stretching to the mountain horizons. A dozen miles southeast of Thermal is the Salton Sea Recreational Area, which is California’s largest inland lake. And Anza Borrego State Park is just west of the Salton Sea, where hikers enjoy visiting the extraordinary rock formations and off-road vehicle enthusiasts have a designated area.
