Boy equals blue, right? Sure, but if you start with a blue room don’t be afraid to mix and match with several different shades, textures and looks. It’s important to keep your kid’s bedroom interesting and fun but not cluttered and claustrophobic.
If your baby boy already has plenty of colorful toys and trinkets, use white or ivory shelves filled with colorful wicker baskets and boxes to add storage and order to an otherwise chaotic space. Girly Glam
When preparing to remodel the bedroom for a girl, start thinking of fun and trendy color combos like white matched with gentle or bold pink, red, green and peach hue. Bring some soft character with a vintage inspired furniture set such as nightstand, little table and wooden bed with curved edges or lavish metal frame, which can be equally appropriate for both little girls and teenagers.
For more classical ambient, it’s great to have bed with large patterned headboard, suitable for creating various looks with floral linens. Keep it sweet and simple with a writing table with chair, pair of classic night tables and matching wardrobe, or switch it up with multipart paintings, a chandelier, table lamps or funky patterned carpet.
Another way to incorporate some fun is with a reeding nook. Build it in or just add a sofa or sitting area, mini table and curtains or a tent. Keeping it Neutral
If you’re trying to please a little prince and princess in one remodel or are looking for a style to grow with your child then the best option is to stay gender neutral. In this case you want to stick to neutrals like white, grey, brown or greens combined with a mixture of natural wood and wool materials and classic patterns such as strips and dots.
Once you’ve set the stage, add a fun pop of personality with accessories like kids’ floor rugs in animal themes, colorful geometrical shapes or rainbow stripes which work great for both boys and girls. Similar themes can be applied to silky curtains, bedding and soft cushions a for cohesive look. And of course if you’re decorating for two, bunk beds are a fun and easy way to save space and create more fun!
